2025 Service & Infractructure Rates

Support for teaching is subsidized by the Faculty of Science, the service rates below do not apply.

Services

  1. 2025 - Hourly Service Rate - $50/hour
  2. Setup/Configuration (new hardware/VM)
    • 5 hours @ $50/hour (+1 hour/additional server)
    • First year maintenance included
    • Base cost: $2501
    • After the first year you need a maintenance package.
  3. Management, Maintainance of server, storage Infrastructure
    • OS and software updates
    • Security Patches
    • Hardware replacement/installation
    • Remote administration/monitoring
    • Log review
    • Rate: $50/hour, minimum = 1 hour/month => $600+/year2
  4. General IT Server and workstation support
    • Repair/Reinstall
    • Ad-Hoc maintenance/configuration
    • Rate: $50/hour

NOTE: Support hour pool can be purchased in blocks of hours at the above hourly rate

Infrastructure

The cost of infrastructure purchases covers their usage for a period of 5 years. It is not a recurring cost; only maintenance is recurring.

  1. Virtual Machines3

    • Base VM: $1250 sold in blocks of:
      • 4 vCPU / 32GB Ram / 128GB Storage
    • Setup Costs: $250
    • Annual Maintenance: $1200 (Assuming 2 hours/month Maintenance Contract - starting 2nd year)

  2. Data Storage

    • Cost: $175/TB (*cost may be adjusted to reflect rising market prices)
    • Setup costs: $250
    • Annual Maintenance: $600 (Assuming 1 hour/month. If a server maintenance contract is already in place that will cover associated storage i.e. no additional contract needed)
